Toronto Premium Outlets: Tennis Interest

Image
As our friends at Toronto Trends informed earlier this month, the Toronto Premium Outlets , GTA's new luxury-for-less destination, opened its doors to the public on August 1. After my unsucessful attempt to attend the grand opening (read: spending 2 hours to get there just to find no parking spots available), I decided to get it another shot earlier today. Understandably, the traffic issues were gone but finding a convenient parking space still remains an issue. The store themselves offer some excellent discounts although inventory in some of the most sought-after stores like adidas and Nike leaves a lot to be desired. The stores are small and the choice of styles extremely limited. If you, like me, are a tennis player, don't count on finding any tennis apparel in any of the aforementioned stores (unless you count one style of Barricades - team version - from a number of seasons back). Disappointing for a store with huge Andy Murray and Caroline Wozniacki banne...

Marion Bartoli Retires from Tennis

Image
Marion Bartoli , the 2013 Wimbledon Champion , has decided to call it a career following a R2 exit at the Western & Souther Open in Cincinnati on Wednesday. "You know, everyone will remember my Wimbledon title," she said. "No one will remember the last match I played here. It's been a tough decision to take. I don't take this easily. I mean, I've been a tennis player for a long time and I had a chance to make my biggest dream a reality. I felt I really, really pushed through the ultimate limits to make it happen. But now I just can't do it anymore." Here's a quick photo-tribute of photos of Marion I've taken over the years. Friday Fun at the Rogers Cup Toronto: Serena Williams, Pete Sampras, James Blake, Magdalena Rybarikova with a Surprise Appearance by Marion Bartoli

Image
"Watch Pete Sampras play tennis live." has been very near the top of my bucket list for a very  long time. Unfortunately, he had retired by the time I was in a position to attend tennis tournaments. That dream finally came true last Friday when I was fortunate enough to watch the exhibition match between Pistol Pete and James Blake (officiated in part by Marion Bartoli , the 2013 Wimbledon Champion), part of the ATP Legends Tour , following the quarter final match of the Rogers Cup between Serena Williams and Magdalena Rybarikova . The experience was made possible thanks to the Rogers Cup and the #RogersCup10k twitter contest as well as Three Works Snacks & Chips (we have previously written about them, here and here ) who hosted all the winners in their suite, complete with amazing food, drinks and excellent company of fellow tennis fans. Also, we did not leave the suite empty handed as each guest was given a bag full of Three Works goodies including Suga...
