Mayfair Futures in Markham, Ontario - Final Round-up and Photos

Second year in a row the crowd of about 60 people gathered at the Mayfair Parkway club witnessed a Canadian player take home the National Bank Futures title. Peter Polansky followed Vasek Pospisil's footsteps by winning today's final vs. Jesse Levine in 3 high-quality sets (6-4, 3-6, 7-5).

The match set started with a quick service break by Polansky who went on to dominate the set, with just a few minor lapses, and win it 6-4. In the 2nd set Levine picket up his level considerably, playing consistently and getting the most of his go-to forehand down the line every time Polansky would  hit the ball short. Third set started with an early Break for Peter, who would later give it up while serving for the match. at 5-4 . In the end, he was able to step it up and went for the big shots at the most important moments, broke right back, and served it out at the second try.

The comic relief was provided by the tiny ball kids who might have been doing the job for the first time ever and kept standing in the lines people's way. End result - the players ended up retrieving the balls between points themselves.

Oh, and do you know what do you do if you want to use your towel at the Futures level? You go get your towel yourself and then put it back on the court as there's nowhere else to put it. Good times!

More photos after the jump.
